Awareness is the first step to problem-solving and known to eliminate stigma from society. If we are aware of our limitations and strengths, stigma may disappear. When there is awareness about mental health it eases identification and early treatment for individuals and hence increases the chances of optimal care to enhance the quality of life.
At Punah: Santulan/Aarunya Psychiatric Nursing Home we constantly thrive to create mental health awareness among the general public and community, through our active initiatives:
- Seminars/Webinars- These are primarily aimed at different communities, like doctors, teachers, fitness instructors, corporate professionals, students, etc., to bring in awareness regarding the importance of mental health in their respective streams and what indications to be on the lookout for and how to manage them.
- Workshops- These are interactive sessions where the instructors/hosts, as well as the participants, are equally involved. These are aimed not only for awareness and stress relief but also at building communication and teamwork.
- Group talks/discussions- Being able to put forth your views in front of an audience and receiving inputs with constructive criticism plays an important part in mental stimulation, social skills development as well as a powerful tool to rid ourselves and others of stigmas and myths.
- Mental health camps- Holding mental health camps for screening and awareness purposes has an important role in eliminating preconceived ideas regarding mental health.
